A Remembrance Day Story
by Alysia Littke

Once upon as time far, far away, there lived a man.  He lived in a tiny little cabin.  The cabin was painted with blue, white, green, yellow, red and black.

One day a man came across the man’s house.  Sure enough, this man rang the doorbell and the man that lived in the house opened the door.  The man that lived in the house said, “Come in, come in.”  So the man went in.  Then he started to ask the man what the picture on his house was.  Because it was so foggy, the man could not see what the picture was, so the man told him.

He said,” A long time ago my mom and dad went to war and were killed.  I was sad.  I wanted to remember them.  That is exactly why I painted my house like that.”

But the man got mad and said, “I wanted to know what the picture was!”

The man told him, “The picture on my house is a poppy”.

So the man said, “Bye now.  I have to go back to the streets where I live.”

“Oh no.  Stay here”.  So the man stayed there and they both lived happily ever after.
