Harry Potter's Best Christmas
by Holly Fleming

It was the night before Christmas and Harry was lying in bed thinking how horrible Christmas would be. He had been living with the Dursleys for thirteen years and life was horrible. Suddenly Harry heard a mysterious noise coming from outside. He leapt out of bed and put on his bathrobe and slippers. He quietly crept down the stairs so the Dursleys wouldn't hear him. He opened the door and there in the front of his house was the Hogwart's Express. Ron and Hermoine yelled out the window, "Harry, go get your trunk and Hedwig. We're going to Hogwarts."

"Just wait a minute while I get it, okay?" Harry raced up the stairs, grabbed Hedwig and his trunk then scurried back down the stairs. He left a note on the kitchen table for the Dursleys, grabbed his coat and jumped onto the Hogwart Express. It was a two hour drive to Hogwarts.

When Ron, Harry and Hermoine finally got to their room, they were extremely tired and they settled into their beds.

The next morning, Harry was awakened. "Harry! Harry! Wake up! It's Christmas," Ron shouted as he shook Harry. Harry woke up, he looked around and saw a mound of presents by his bed. He decided to open them before he went down to have breakfast in the great hall.

Meanwhile, at the Dursley's house Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and Dudley were eating a very enjoyable breakfast. Uncle Vernon had just found the note under his plate. "Petunia, look." he exclaimed. Aunt Petunia raced over, so did Dudley. "Open it Dad," Dudley said. Uncle Vernon unfolded the piece of paper and read the letter aloud. This is what it said. "Dear Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and Dudley. I am Hogwarts for Christmas and I will be staying there until school ends. Then I will go to Ron's house for the summer break. I will go back to Hogwarts with Ron after. Signed, Harry."

"It is a wonderful thing that we don't have to take care of Harry for a long time," said Uncle Vernon. And so the Dursleys didn't have to care about Harry for now.

Meanwhile, Harry and his friends had finished opening the mounds of presents. They went down to the great hall for breakfast. Harry said to his friends, "This is the best Christmas I have ever had!"

Jumping for Money

by Hailey Pineau

There once was a poor little girl named Hailey.  She was nine years old and lived in a small house in a big city called Edmonton.  She had curly brown hair and wanted some day to be very rich.

One night Hailey stayed up until midnight and fell asleep, so her mom had to carry her up the long staircase to her room.  She had a dream that very soon she would no longer be poor and would have lots of money.

The next morning Hailey went for a drive in her dad’s rusty old car.  Along for the ride were her two brothers, Benjamin and Mark, and her two cousins, Scott and Adam.  Dad said her knew where he was going, but before long, mom said, “I think we’re lost.”

Just as they were about to turn around, they suddenly came to a very strange place called, “Marvellous Money Coast.”  Coming to a stop, everyone looked out and saw many buildings all painted with different bright colors.  Hailey ran out as fast as she could into a red building close by, and jumped with joy.

Suddenly, ten-dollar bills started falling all around.  Then Ben ran into a purple building and jumped for joy.  This time, hundred dollar bills started falling like rain.  Finally, everyone else also ran into different buildings and founds tons of money.  As you can guess, they all lived a very rich life from then on.
