The New Amusement Park
by Tabitha Lin
On the way to school I saw a big colorful sign with funny
pictures for a new amusement park that was being built.
"Anna! Look at that, we're getting a new amusement
park right by the shopping mall!" I exclaimed.
"Really, Tina, I can't wait to go there,"
replied Anna.
We thought that would be so cool. We could can go shopping
first then go over to the amusement park. Anna and I thought it was a
great idea, but we were in for a big surprise.
After school, we missed the bus, so we walked home and
made plans to meet this Sunday to go to the park.
"Yippee, Anna and I get to go the new amusement park
and you don't," I chanted in front of my brother. Derek, my brother,
hates when I say that.
"Urghh! Stop it!" shouted Derek. I left to go
over to Anna's house. It's only two houses from mine. I rang the doorbell,
and Anna let me in. We had tuna sandwiches for lunch. Then we quickly went
over to the shopping mall and bought some clothes. Finally we went over to
the amusement park.
The amusement park just opened so we have four hours to
spend. The time passed so quickly and we didn't hear closing announcement.
When we went to the gates to leave, they were locked and would not budge.
"Oh, great, now we're locked in and probably have to
stay here until morning," complained Anna. Meanwhile, we walked
around and found some food shops that were unlocked and that some food for
dinner. Anna and I had felt like someone was following us. I could see a
shadow in the corner of my eye. Finally, Anna and I were brave enough to
look behind us. We screamed! It was a clown who was following us. We ran
as fast as we could, but he kept chasing us. We finally found a hiding
spot in the girls washroom. We waited and waited to hear him leave. We
heard footsteps all right, but they were getting louder, not quieter.
"Is he in the girl's washroom?" Anna whispered.
Since I was the brave one, I decided to try and scare the clown off. I
moaned, screeched, and screamed but it didn't seem to work.
"Little girls, why don't you come out of there?"
said the creepy clown.
"That sounds like Bob, the clown, you know, the one
on the roller coaster in front of us," whispered Anna.
"Oh, yah, I remember," I whispered back.
Bob still didn't give up. While he was trying to get us
out, we were busy ourselves and I finally found a way out. We slid under
the washroom divider and went out the back door. Pretty soon, Bob realized
we had gone and followed after us again. We ran, and ran, trying to set a
trap for Bob. We checked to see if Bob was still there, but it seemed as
if he had been caught in that trap we made at the cotton candy stand.
We were a little hungry, so we stopped to eat something at
a hot dog stand.
"I didn't know that only the gates are locked up at
night. I thought that everything would be locked up," said Anna. We
set up a few more traps, then stopped to rest. We had been in the park for
hours, and finally fell asleep.
Soon it was morning, Anna woke me up and we went to the
gates to try again. And we ran right into Bob. He grabbed our jackets so
we could not escape.
"Little girls, I've been looking for you the whole
time trying to tell you something, but you kept running. What I wanted to
tell you was that I had the keys to unlock the gates," said Bob in a
squeaky voice.
"Oh, I didn't know that," Anna said in a
surprised voice.
"Well, you can go now," said Bob.
The Halloween I'll Never
Forget
by Taylor Patterson
"What is it? Could it be
that my neighbor is a witch?" I cried, with my jaw hanging open, with
a little fright.
I slowly walked up to her door.
"Boy, this is creepy," I thought. I yelled, "Trick or
Treat!" They came to the door and pulled me in.
My neighbor said, "Hop on
my broom."
I said, "No," at
first, but then began to gather my courage. I slowly got on the broom.
Then my neighbor jumped on with
a cackle, "He, he, he." She and I really flew. For a few minutes
I was scared, but then I started to giggle. Then I saw we were going down.
In a few seconds I was getting off the broom and saying thank you over and
over.
That was the best Halloween
ever.
Remember
to Brush Your Teeth
by Travis Dick
One day, on the
day before Halloween, it was cold and snowy. Arny was outside playing ball
with his friends.
"Hey,
guys, wanna come to my house and eat cheese pooters?" said Arny.
"No
thanks, Arn," said his friend Max. So Arny went inside and ate 17
bags of cheese pooters. It took him three hours.
When it was
bedtime, Arny's mom, Mrs. Bronc said, "Arny, honey, can you brush
your teeth?" So Arny went upstairs into the washroom and waited there
for two minutes.
During those
two minutes, he thought to himself, "I'm just going to wait and not
brush my teeth."
After those two
minutes, Arny's mom called, "Arny, you done?"
He replied,
"Yes," feeling a little guilt. When he went to bed, the just
fell asleep so fast, just like a lightning stroke. When he woke up, he saw
a weird shaped object.
When he stared
at it, he heard a voice, "It's rude to stare. I should be staring at
you."
"What?" said
Arny.
"We should go somewhere
safe," said the alien.
"Why?" Arny asked.
"Because the man is going to
come and check on the city," the alien said with fear.
"Well, okay, but when we get
there, tell me what this place is," he said, while looking
everywhere.
"Follow me," said the
alien. So Arny and the alien appeared at an old unsteady shack and went
inside it and sat down on the two chairs waiting for them.
Arny spoke up, "What's up
there?"
"Well, there are three monsters
after you, because they saw you fall from the sky. The monsters' names are
Candy Man, Tooth Eater, Toothtattooer. You must be very careful on your
way to find the key."
"The key?" asked
Arny.
"The key that gets you out of
this nightmare. If you don't find it in two weeks, you will stay here in
nightmare land forever."
"What? Why two weeks. Why not
six weeks, or even a year?" said Arny frightened.
Arny woke up and then said to
himself, "I am never going to lie again. On the next day, he came
home from school and ate supper, then went upstairs and brushed his teeth
and went to bed. After that, he said to himself, "Now I feel much
better," then he had the greatest dream ever.
Green
Goblins Gobble Lunch
by
Tanis Riske
“See
you soon Mom,” yelled Louise. She
was going to the sheep field to help her brother, Aaron and her sister,
Barb. Louise walked with her
golden retriever, Sandy. As
she walked up the hill she saw a goblin in the shadows of the trees.
It was green with pointy ears, little with black eyes.
The goblin came wobbling out of the shadows it was so fat but then
Louise saw thousands following the first out toward them.
All the goblins were circling them.
The goblins were so close that they could not move.
One
of the goblins said, “Can we have your lunch?
We’re starving.”
Louise
said, “Well, all right.” So
she bet down and put all her lunch, which were 2 cookies, 2 brownies, 1
tuna sandwich, an apple and a carrot.
Then
all the goblins said, “Thanks!” and ran off while Louise carried on
with a rumbling tummy.
The
Virtual Maze
by
Tyler Gordulic
On Monday,
October 22, 2001 there was a boy named George. George had long framed
glasses and brown hair with blond highlights. He was one of the shortest
students in Mrs. Grumble’s 6D class. George thought Mrs. Grumble was the
greatest grade 6 teacher in the world.
George and
his friend Steven had been friends since grade 2. Occasionally Steven
would do some weird things. One day Steven did something that made George
very suspicious. That day after school Steven took George to a maze.
George
didn’t want to enter the maze but Steven insisted. George said that he
would enter the maze only if Steven entered it first. Some how Steven knew
his way around the maze, which made George even more suspicious. It
didn’t take Steven long to lead George into a UFO. After a little while
Steven started to change a little bit. His voice was weird, he started to
shrink and turn green. George had never seen Steven do anything like this
before.
After the
transformation Steven had three heads and three eyes. He also had two
green lumps on each head. His pet hellhound looked exactly like him only
the hellhound was red. It also looked like Steven had a bloody ghost as a
pet.
Steven
ordered the bloody ghost to take George to the virtual game room. George
had never seen anything like this room before. In the back of the room
there was a big screen TV. Near the front of the room there was a shelf
full of virtual games. There were Star Wars, Nascar Racing, and maze
games. George knew that there was a catch to Steven taking George to his
game room.
Steven
decided to make a treaty with George. George would compete against Steven
for his freedom. If George lost, he would have to be Steven’s slave for
the rest of his life. If George won, George would get to live a normal
life again and Steven would return to his home planet and never come back.
George accepted Steven’s challenge. George knew it would be risky but he
had to do it.
Steven and
George put on their virtual masks and started the game. The object of the
game was to find your way through the maze and to the flag before your
opponent. There was a 10-minute time limit. If no one reached the flag in
that time limit, then the person who was closest to the flag would be the
winner.
When the
game began, George was a little nervous because he thought he was going to
lose. With 5 minutes left in the game George was more than halfway through
the maze but was still behind Steven. With 1 minute left in the game
George and Steven were neck and neck. It looked like a tie but with a
close look in instant re-play; George won by a foot! Steven said that a
deal was a deal and he let George go and returned to his home planet,
never to be seen again.
Eventually,
George forgot about this incident and his life returned to normal. George
grew up and raised two kids named Matt and Meghan, and enjoyed the rest of
his life.
Mummy
by
Thomas
Once
there was a person named George. He loved digging. He always dug up old
artifacts. One time he dug up and old coffin made of gold. He was going to
sell it to the museum. He didn’t want to, though. So he kept it in his
garage. He went in and chipped a piece of gold off.
George
went to the lab and studied it. He was going to open the coffin but when
he got there it was already opened. There were footsteps going into the
kitchen. George ran into the kitchen and found a mummy looking in a
cupboard. When the mummy looked up, it ran away. It looked like he was
running towards the waterfall.
George
saw the mummy fall off the top of the waterfall and into the drainage
system. Two months later George was getting a glass of water. Instead of
water, cloth came out of the tap. George knew it was the remains of the
mummy. So he took the cloth and burned it and that was the end of the
mummy.
